The performances at the “2013 MTV EMA” are going to be EMAzing! Two-time EMA nominee and singer Rita Ora, acclaimed singer-songwriter, actress and Best PUSH nominee Bridgit Mendler, Nashville rockers, Kings of Leon and fun-loving Swedish duo Icona Pop are the latest acts added to the incredible “2013 MTV EMA” line-up.

Leto’s band Thirty Seconds To Mars is nominated for three “2013 MTV EMA” awards (Best Video for “Up In The Air”, Best Alternative and Biggest Fans), while Rita Ora is up for Best Look and Best World Stage. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year’s nominations with five nods each, while Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are each up for four awards. Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Daft Punk, Rudimental, Icona Pop and One Direction are each nominated for three awards. Artists with two EMA nods include Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem, Jay Z, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Paramore, Drake, Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Iggy Azalea.
Kings of Leon, Icona Pop, Jared Leto, Rita Ora and Bridgit Mendler join previously announced performers Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Snoop Dogg, Afrojack, Imagine Dragons, The Killers and Katy Perry; presenters Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding, Carice van Houten and Colton Haynes; intergalactic MC Redfoo, backstage host Ariana Grande and special guest Ron Burgundy of Anchorman 2 (Will Ferrell).
Staging their second EMA performance ever is Kings of Leon, whose new album Mechanical Bull has scored rave reviews from critics. According to the New York Daily News, the album “boasts the most clear-eyed performances, finest writing and sharpest focus of KOL’s career,” while the UK’s Guardian has declared that the “Southern boys are back at the top of their game.”
Meanwhile, the lovely ladies of Icona Pop will be making their EMA performance debut, while also celebrating three EMA nominations and a breakout year as one of MTV’s 2013 PUSH acts (MTV’s initiative that recognizes the most promising artists on the brink of becoming global superstars). Icona Pop’s hit single “I Love It” has topped more than 5 million sales worldwide and achieved platinum status in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand and Switzerland; two times platinum in the US; three times platinum in Sweden; four times platinum in Canada; five times platinum in Australia; and gold in the UK, Netherlands and Norway.
“We are super excited to perform at the MTV EMAs! We hope you’re ready, because we’re ready, and we’re going to dance!” said Icona Pop.

The “2013 MTV EMA” will air across MTV’s global network of more than 60 channels reaching nearly 700 million households around the world as well as through syndication. In addition, its convergent programming and content will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV’s 200+ digital media properties around the world.
The “2013 MTV EMA” will broadcast live on MTV (DStv Channel 130) on Sunday 10 November at 9PM from the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam (red carpet show commences 8PM). The primetime premiere on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) takes place at 6:30PM on Tuesday 12 November (red carpet show starts at 5:30PM).
