The second
edition of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) Annual
Gold Medal Lecture will be coming up on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Four
Points Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, at 6 pm prompt.
The topic of
this year’s lecture is: “Destination
Marketing: A Case Study of the South Africa Experience”, and it will be
delivered by Miss Wendy Tlou, Chief Marketing Officer of Brand South Africa. The event will have as Chairman
Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, President, Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria
(NPAN), and publisher of Thisday newspaper. The Panel of discussants will be
led by Dr. Rotimi Oladele, National President of The Nigerian Institute of
Public Relations (NIPR).
Miss Tlou has a
background and extensive experience in Marketing and Communications. She began
her career with South African Tourism in 2003, as Marketing and Communications
Manager, and rose to become the GM, Global Communications, where she led the team that
conceptualized, managed and delivered SA Tourism’s global communications and
reputation management strategy and leveraged the communications of the 2010
FIFA World Cup to benefit South Africa’s tourism ambitions.
Her passion for South Africa and it’s
infinite potential as a destination of choice to live, work and invest in has
led her to her current post at Brand South Africa, the official nation brand
agency of the Republic of South Africa. As the Director of Strategic Marketing
& Communications, she provides leadership to the ‘engine’ of the Brand SA –
its Brand, Communications, Research and Digital departments.
The Annual PRCAN
Gold Medal Lecture was instituted last year, as a platform for sharing
knowledge and ideas on issues that will enhance the political and economic
development of Nigeria. Last year’s lecture, which was the inaugural one, was
delivered by former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode John Fayemi, and he
spoke on the topic: “The Imperative of
Policy Communication in Deepening Democracy and Good Governance”.
PRCAN is the
trade sectorial body for PR consultancy
practice in Nigeria. It has the legal backing of the NIPR Public Relations Consultancy (Amended)
Practice Bye-Law (No. 3) of 1993.
PRCAN currently
has a membership of 50 PR consultancies.
