Breaking: Dead People Can Now Post On Facebook!

Facebook

Facebook has introduced a new feature, which allows dead people to update their profiles and share posts with their friends. (Creepy? Yes We Know)

Before now, People who die are simply “memorialised” with the word “Remembering” added to their names on Facebook. But moving forward, Facebook users can now assign a friend or family member to take over their Facebook profile in the occasion of death.

This new feature allows a Facebook user to choose a “legacy contact” who will serve as an executor of their Facebook page. As an executor, the legacy contact can post information like funeral details, respond to new friend requests and update profile photos of a dead Facebook user.

To activate the legacy contact feature, Facebook needs people to request that a profile be memorialised by proving that the owner of the Facebook profile is dead.

The legacy contact feature can be set up by clicking the down arrow on the upper right hand corner of your screen, click settings. Also on the left column, click security, and then click Legacy Contact. Here you can enter the name of a Facebook friend to take control of your page after you die. It will also generate a message to that friend as seen below:

The legacy contact feature is not yet available in Nigeria, and happily so.
