Natural Premium drink, Fayrouz from the stable of Nigerian Breweries PLC has for the second year in a row, scored big with the L’Original competition; a platform with which the brand seeks to advocate for originality and reward creativity.
The competition, which is open to young
Nigerians between the ages of 18-24 who must be Youth Corps members,
fresh graduates or undergraduates of Nigerian universities, has since its debut
last year, grown to become one of the most credible contests. Worthy of mention
is that the competition’s popularity isn’t based solely on its uniqueness nor
the millions of naira participants stand to win, rather on its sincere
commitment to encouraging talented youths.
Kufre Ekanem, Nigerian
Breweries’ Corporate Affairs Adviser, emphasized this during a press
conference held recently to announce the finale of this year’s edition, ‘We
are very delighted that Fayrouz is supporting a laudable project like the
L’Original competition. We understand the importance of giving wings to the
talents of young Nigerians and we are committed to it’ he said and
continued, citing examples of the many exploits Team Elan, winners of the
maiden edition have done since their victory last year.
The Fayrouz L’Original competition sponsored by
Natural Premium drink, Fayrouz has a rather interesting concept, promoting the
ideals of teamwork and responsibility. It involves several teams battling each
other to become the most original team of the year. Each team consisting of a
make up artiste, model, photographer and fashion designer are expected to come
up with creative designs according to themes given by the board.
Upon
completion, the pieces are presented to the jury, made up of celebrated
photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, make up expert, Rhema Akabuogu and the duo of
creative fashion designers, Kunbi Oyelese and Ohimai Atafo who then choose
qualifying teams based on the creativity, confidence and originality displayed.
Fayrouz Senior Brand Manager, Nnenna
Ifebigh-Hemeson explained what inspired the competition, ‘We came up
with L’Original out of our interest in meeting the innate desires of our
consumers. We realized that most of them have very rare talents and seek for a
platform that believes in them. The Fayrouz brand not only believe s in them
but is also committed to helping become the best which is why we are happy
to be a part of their growth process and encourage their creativity.’
But should there be doubts about the relevance
of the competition, the success story of the winners of the maiden edition
readily suffices. The Team Elan have continued to soar on different
fashion platforms across the continent and in the UK since they were discovered
by Fayrouz L'Original.
In one of the many fashion opportunities
catalyzed by Fayrouz, Temitayo Nathan under the trade name TI
Nathan was featured at the prestigious Lagos Fashion & Design
Week where he exhibited designs on the same runway with fashion titans
like Lanre Da Silva, Maki Oh and the Okunoren Twins. He also went on to feature
at the International Fashion Showcase at the London Fashion Week in February
2015.
The make up artiste, Leylarh Cadne on
her part has worked with a host of celebrities
including Aphrodija, Fade Ogunro, Stephanie Coker, DJ Cuppy
and Toyin Jalapomo of Ndani TV. She also partnered recently
with ThisDay Style for her January edition. Yitschaq Adore, the
photographer, has become a skillful photographer and runs ‘VISIONS’ photography
studio in Benin Republic with two of his friends.
