During a
Media hangout with top media executives in Lagos yesterday, Alex Okosi, Senior Vice
President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN)
Africa said, “We
are delighted to add this rich mix of contemporary and classic reality shows,
drama, family friendly sitcoms, entertainment news, comedy and more to the BET schedule, providing a daily
celebration of African and African-American culture that is as uplifting as it
is entertaining.”
The BET programming team has created
an exciting new schedule packed with first-run entertainment shows including
season 4 of the popular spoof show Real
Husbands of Hollywood, Punk’d (BET’s reworked version
of the classic MTV prank show), documentary series “The
BET Life of…”, season 3 of drama series Being Mary Jane, and reality series DeSean Jackson,
“Blood Sweat and Heels” and
“Frankie & Neffe”, in addition to new episodes of The Wendy Williams Show and The
Real.
Locally
produced programme content will play a prominent role on the channel with BET Buzz (local and international entertainment
news) airing every weekday, and a second series of Top Actor currently in production, in
addition to locally commissioned shows set to air in early 2016. The channel is
also introducing a new Saturday night urban movie slot showing such classics as “Black
Chocolate Nutcracker”, “Let
The Church Say Amen” and Eddie Murphy’s “Best Defence”.
Other
interesting pieces of content airing from November will include the 2015
edition of “The
Soul Train Awards”, a 2-part documentary about South African designer David Tlale, reality
series “The New Atlanta”,
and classic comedy sitcoms “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, “My Wife
and Kids”, and “Are
We There Yet?”
There are
also other exciting contents for the New year, as viewers will also be able to
enjoy programme content from BET Experience Africa, the brand new
lifestyle and music event, which includes a star-studded concert headlined by
neo-soul star Maxwell.

on DStv on 2nd of April
2015, BET is a 24-hour TV channel and multimedia
entertainment brand designed to reflect, respect, and elevate the rich variety
and positive values of African and African-American culture.
