In line with the adoption of a new format for the eighth edition of Gulder Ultimate Search, two anchormen have been chosen to steer the affairs of the reality TV show. They are, popular Nigerian actor, Bob Manuel Udokwu and R & B crooner, Dare ‘Art’ Alade. While Bob Manuel Udokwu has been the host for the last four seasons of the show, Dare ‘Art’ Alade is joining the show as the host for the first time. Incidentally, both artistes were contestants on the celebrity edition of GUS which was aired last year.
Speaking on the choice of both acts as anchormen, Mr. Yusuf Ageni, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc said: “The choice of two hosts for Gulder Ultimate Search 8, as against having one anchor person, is part of the new concept of GUS. As we have mentioned, thirty contestants will compete for the grand prize in GUS 8. The new course that GUS will be charting this year, the fun and excitement which we anticipate that Season 8 will generate, necessitated our choice for two anchormen this year.”
The theme for GUS 8 is the ‘Contest of Champions’ and according to Mr. Ageni, this year’ edition “is expected to stretch man to the very limit of his endurance.”
Mr. Ita Bassey, Senior Brand Manager – Gulder, Nigerian Breweries Plc said: “The TV audience should expect a synergy from these talented individuals who have captivated viewers with their performances in their various fields. I urge viewers to stay tuned to their TV sets to find out more about the roles of these celebrities in this year’s GUS. I can only assure that it will be a memorable experience.”
Gulder Ultimate Search was first staged in 2004; gaining prominence as Nigeria’s first 100 per cent local content reality TV show. It is also the country’s first and longest running wholly local reality TV show, having run year on year, since inception. This year’s edition, which will be staged at the Egbetua Quarters, Ososo Mountains in Akoko Edo, Edo State, will be the eighth in the series.
