The second edition of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) Annual Gold Medal Lecture will be coming up on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, at 6 pm prompt.
The topic of this year’s lecture is: “Destination Marketing: A Case Study of the South Africa Experience”, and it will be delivered by Miss Wendy Tlou, Chief Marketing Officer of  Brand South Africa. The event will have as Chairman Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, President, Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), and publisher of Thisday newspaper. The Panel of discussants will be led by Dr. Rotimi Oladele, National President of The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Miss Tlou has a background and extensive experience in Marketing and Communications. She began her career with South African Tourism in 2003, as Marketing and Communications Manager, and rose to become the GM, Global Communications, where she led the team that conceptualized, managed and delivered SA Tourism’s global communications and reputation management strategy and leveraged the communications of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to benefit South Africa’s tourism ambitions.

As the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications, she provides leadership to the ‘engine’ of the Brand SA – its Brand, Communications, Research and Digital departments.

The Annual PRCAN Gold Medal Lecture was instituted last year, as a platform for sharing knowledge and ideas on issues that will enhance the political and economic development of Nigeria. Last year’s lecture, which was the inaugural one, was delivered by former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode John Fayemi, and he spoke on the topic: “The Imperative of Policy Communication in Deepening Democracy and Good Governance”.

PRCAN is the trade sectorial body for PR consultancy practice in Nigeria. It has the legal backing of the NIPR Public Relations Consultancy (Amended) Practice Bye-Law (No. 3) of 1993.
