THE fifth edition
of ENCOMIUM’s Black & White Ball, on
Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Ruby Gardens,
Lekki, Lagos, triumphed as a 7-star ceremony with all the
elements of glitz and glamour.
With
a 12-course dinner, comedy and music, as well as an awards segment, the event
attracted stars of movies and music, television and comedy, in addition to
leading entrepreneurs, professionals and politicos.
The
Deputy Governor of Lagos, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire led politicos
which included Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi
Ikuforiji. Wife of Lagos governor, Dame
Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola also graced the occasion. So did Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom, Mr.
Don Etim who represented the governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
The
Elegance,
Style and Substance Awards saw Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House and Vivid Imaginaion’s Godwin Mekwuye taking home two Elesho totems each.
Ighodalo
was decorated as the Most Stylish Man, 50s category and Most Stylish Leader of
the Faithful, while Mekwuye won as Most Influential Designer and Pacesetting
Designer (Special Recognition Award).
Other
winners are Chief Akpabio (Most Stylish Governor), Princess Orelope-Adefulire
(Most Elegant Deputy Governor), Rt. Hon. Ikuforiji (Most Stylish Speaker) and
Dame Emmanuella Fashola (Most Adorable First Lady).
The
exciting ball, anchored by Julius Agwu, paraded the kings of comedy led by Ali
Baba, with Okey Bakassi, Tee A, Funny Bone and De Don sending the house roaring
with laughter.
DJ
Jimmy Jatt (decorated as the Pillar of Entertainment for his 25 years of
service as a dependable disc jockey), Reel
Laif Band and Sheyman entertained.
With
a black carpet reception at around past 4 p.m, the ball ended well past 10 in
the magical marquee decorated by Ibidunni Ituah Ighodalo’s Elizabeth R in monochrome.
Supported
by Intercontinental Distillers Ltd.,
Access Bank, Zmirage, Diamond Bank and dozen others, the incomparable ball
was as enthralling as it was enchanting.
