MTV Base today announced that Grammy Award-nominated superstar Nicki Minaj will take the 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” stage for what is sure to be one of the night's most talked-about performances. The multiplatinum hip-hop queen will perform her alluring new hit single “Anaconda” for the first time, from her highly
anticipated album The PinkPrint, due out later this year.
Nicki Minaj joins previously announced performers Beyoncé, Usher, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5 and 5 Seconds of Summer at the 2014 VMAs for what promises to be an electrifying live event and TV experience.
“The VMAs is a pretty big deal so people go all out for it,” said Nicki Minaj. “I am very, very excited and looking forward to the performance.”
Nicki Minaj is no stranger to the VMA stage, with past performances on the 2010 “MTV Video Music Awards” pre-show performing her first number one single, "Your Love", and in 2012, she joined Alicia Keys on the
main stage for a fiery performance of “Girl on Fire". Additionally, Minaj earned a VMA Moonman trophy in 2011 for “Best Hip-Hop Video” for “Super Bass” and in 2012 for “Best Female Video” with “Starships".
Nominees for a new socially voted category, “Best Lyric Video” will be announced at a later date on vma.mtv.com.
The 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” takes place at the Forum, Inglewood, California on Sunday 24 August. The show premieres on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10PM.
