Visual
communication is more important than a lot of people think. Graphic
design is an art with purpose. Creating thoughtfully crafted impressions
to sell a product, promote a cause or an entity involves the proper
understanding of the marketing situation.
By
picking on the simplest ideas or reading meaning into a seemingly
stupid statement, creative minds turn small startups into iconic brands,
personal causes into viral movements and everyday people into
superstars. One of such creative forces, born and bred in Nigeria, is
Kayode Qosim Olowu.
If
you are in the business of design or branding, and you follow creative
people in the industry on Twitter, you just might have come across
@kayodeolowu.
Kayode
is a conceptual art director who has, from time past, proactively
engaged himself in projects and activities that have earned him
recognition in Nigeria and internationally. While Kayode was in Nigeria,
he worked with and on notable brands such as Metro taxi, Access Bank,
Pepsi, Orange Academy and BlackHouse Media (BHM), and others, in the
areas of design, training, and art direction.
Being
the creative director at B-10 Eclectics and OGQ2, a popular graphic
design and urban clothing line, Kayode built and successfully managed
the creative units of both. B-10 Eclectics known for its strategic
visual designs, which consequently gained the company a strong
reputation amongst clients. OGQ2 was on the top 5 urban clothing labels
in Nigeria during Kayode’s tenure.
Beyond
the borders of Nigeria, Kayode has won international awards such as
Graphis New talent Award for Advertising, Australian Young Guns Award,
D&AD (UK) New Blood Award, Luerzer's Archive Student of the Year,

agency in Europe with a fantastic global reputation and clientele
(Mercedes Benz, Vodafone Germany, Edeka & Nivea), based in Hamburg
Germany.
When
Kayode is not behind his Macbook, with his funky hair, geeky eyewear
and interestingly captioned tee-shirts, he enjoys analyzing world views
and power play.
