-M.I Crowns Biggest Rapper in Imo State
Saturday night witnessed the largest assembly of music lovers in recent times at Orlu, Imo State as thousands of excited fans trooped to Sam Okparaji Stadium to watch music legend 2Face, M.I, Phyno, Kcee and Mr Raw perform at the fifth stage of Star Music Trek, Orlu on April 26th 2014.
Despite the threat of early morning torrential rains, eager fans paid no heed to the inclement weather, as they arrived from within and outside the city to take part in what the brand –Star- had promised would be the biggest and most entertaining party in Orlu in recent times.
Host, Gbenga Adeyinka, had full reign as MC- taking fans on an exhilarating journey through different decades with the most popular hit songs of each music era.
Harrysong who has been having a stellar year so far with his popular songs, thrilled fans to no end with Beta Pikinand Buelinu Jesu . The popular singer and prolific songwriter was unusually dressed in a white traditional Jalabiya and performed right before self professedLimpopo king KCee came on stage to join him.
The exciting duo, fast maximizing their partnership on stage, performed Limpopo, Okpekete, Give it to Me andPull Over as well as other hits.
Kcee’s reenactment of a regular scene in Lagos traffic on stage during his Pull Over song, interspersed with sultry dance moves from his dancers was greeted with wild cheers from the audience.
Apparently, Phyno is still Man of the Year, at least judging by the rousing reception received by the fast rising star in Orlu. His just released album, No Guts No Glory has received accolades from critics and pundits acknowledging his effort as one of the most widely accepted albums of indigenous work, cutting across all borders, in recent times.
The artiste didn't fail to deliver many of his rave songs such as Man of the Year, Alobam, Ghostmode, Parcel and more.
Mr Raw and his live band -one of the supreme highlights of the show- started his superlative performance with his popular hit song, One Love. His almost effortless act replete with his characteristic energy and witty punch lines saw guests dancing to many of his popular songs including Hip Hop Gyration, Angel and Spiritual Conji.
Who else could crown the hottest rapper in the East but Africa’s number 1 rapper, M.I? The multiple award winning rapper earlier last week had launched an online competition with hundreds of contestants battling to display their rap skills.
With the final top ten contestants brought on stage to deliver their bars in an intense freestyle rap battle, teeming fans at the Trek automatically, became the judges with eventual winner, 24 year old Festus Chubueze (known as MIC,) clinching the title of Hottest Rapper in Imo.

M.I later went on to perform Anotie, One Naira, No 1 and other songs to the delight of fans.
“I’m extremely excited about this and about the quality of talent I’m seeing here today. I just want to tell you one thing, remember KCee’s story, remember where he started? From Star Quest? Well, just know that the brand always identifies and rewards true talent and when Star wants to bless you they won’t stop doing so,” the rap star enthused.
Superstar, 2Face, as usual brought the energy of the fans into the fore with scintillating performances reminiscent of the music legend that he is widely acclaimed to be. Together with his live band, the musician set out on his 1-hour set to perform an exciting selection of his numerous hits- One Love, Let Somebody Love You. Only Me, True Love, For Instance and many more award winning songs to cap off an exceptional night.
Popular bar, Orange Groove, also hosted the pre-gig on April 25 in Owerri with many excited consumers carting away fantastic prizes from a raffle draw. Gifts such as such as carpets, branded earphones etc were won, with Fidelis Amarachi, a 400 level student from Imo State University winning an LED TV presented to him by popular rap artiste, Mr Raw.
Star Music Trek continues its exciting 10 week 10 city pan Nigerian tour and holds its sixth concert in Ekwulobia, Anambra State on May 3, 2014.
